Armodafinil is the latest in the line of eugeroic drugs developed and marketed by pharmaceutical company Cephalon.
It is said to be stronger than both Adrafinil and Modafinil with a slightly different user experience.
While Armodafinil does not yet have quite the following that Modafinil does for smart drug purposes, it is becoming more available in generic forms and more nootropic users are trying it.
So what is the main difference between Modafinil and Armodafinil according to user reviews and what does it feel like when you take this compound?
Derek from TheLucidDreamSite.com has kindly shared with us this review of taking Armodafinil to boost his productive and cognitive function.

“When I was growing up my mother never kept soda in the fridge. I rarely ate fast food. I was raised to be health conscious, at least to an 80’s standard. I never even took aspirin.
“When I was a teenager and my friends began experimenting with psychedelic drugs, I decided to step back from my peers – I didn’t want to put any lab-made chemicals into my body. Still, I was intrigued by what they were telling me.
“Fractals, color enhancement, sounds morphing, alien thoughts. Eventually, my curiosity won-out and I tried something; I figured that psilocybin mushrooms would be a good natural entry into psychedelia.
“Never having smoked a cigarette, been intoxicated on alcohol, or high on weed, I ate what must have been a half-ounce of dried shrooms on a 4th of July weekend.
“Forever afterwards I have been well aware that tiny amounts of chemicals – whether wrapped inside fungus or concocted in beakers with reagents – can have a profound impact on our nervous system and even alter the limits of who and what we normally assume we are.
“I have been interested in and experimenting with “smart drugs” and nootropic supplements for decades. My philosophy is that when striving for optimal performance, physical or mental – always begin with sound nutrition, exercise, and diet.
“Supplements are SUPPLEMENTS, not the backbone of any health regimen. And, the stronger the effect of a pill or powder, the more important it is to have healthy reserves of nutrients in you to supply the raw materials for the supplement to use-up in its metabolic spree, and then for replenishing your system as things wind down.
“I start off with this disclaimer because I want to tell you about a potent cognitive enhancer – Armodafinil. If you have experience with nootropics, you have likely come across more than a few unsubstantiated claims. This however, is the real deal.”

- Increases energy, wakefulness and motivation
- Boosts mental performance and focus
- Supports memory and cognition
Properties of Armodafinil Pills
“Let me tell you from the start that Armodafinil, like its predecessor Modafinil, is a eugeroic chemical – it promotes wakefulness. These are not stimulants like caffeine or Adderall. You do not get much of a body high.
“And Armodafinil is not particularly effective at boosting memory capacities that weren’t there to begin with. Like the statement about the mythical NZT-48, ‘It works better if you are already smart.’ Of course, if you know your way around nootropic stacks, eugeroics can have a very useful position in your cognitive-boosting arsenal (‘Armo’ even sounds like ‘Ammo’ or ‘Armament’).
“Seeking a way to up my alertness level beyond what coffee could provide, I ordered a combo-pack of Modafinil and Armodafinil. (Although I’m not going to outline it here, there are ways to get anything today over the internet, doctor’s prescription or not. If you want to be sure of the quality of what you are getting and want to keep everything on the up and up, talk to your health care practitioner.)
“I began taking Modafinil and Armodafinil five days per week, alternating between them. The difference molecularly between these drugs is that Armodafinil is the Right-enantiomer (mirror image) of the two possible handedness varieties. Modafinil has both the left and right orientations.
“Some say that Armodafinil was put into the market because Modafinil was becoming widely available in generic (and much cheaper) form than the Cephalon-owned, patent-pending Provigil. To tighten their stronghold on this class of drugs, Cephalon patented Nuvigil, a new ‘Modafinil,’ and in so doing hoped to thwart generic copycats like Modalert from India.
“When put like this, it sounds like Armodafinil, or as Cephalon calls it – Nuvigil – is basically the same thing as Modafinil. Others say that Armodafinil, and its Indian generic forms – such as Waklert – are roughly twice as potent as Modafinil. I’m one of these others.”
Comparing Modafinil and Armodafinil Experiences
“In the beginning, I found that both tablets in my combo-pack (200mg Modafinil and 150mg Armodafinil) worked at least as well as advertised. I would wake up at 5am, ingest a tablet, begin working at my computer, and 12-hours later realize I had been productive all day long.
“For me (and this goes for most of the reports I have read from others), what these substances lend is an ability to remain on-task way longer than would normally be the case. And from the get-go I found myself attacking items on my to-do lists which had been long neglected.
“It is no exaggeration when I say that I could get more done in one day on these little white pills than I had in months of time before them (as far as in completing projects that I didn’t have the inclination to work on). Motivation. Focus. Drive.
“Normally, when we think of nootropics, enhanced working-memory and improved recall and encoding come to mind. But cognitive enhancement also extends to concepts like heightened attention and vigilance, mental endurance, task ‘stick-to-itiveness.’
“This isn’t like the physical boost and rush of coffee (and I’m a big fan of butter-coffee). This isn’t like Adderall, which can have you up all day and night but cleaning out your closet and doing nothing truly productive.
“With these eugeroics, you have no hesitation with doing what you know you should be doing, and you aren’t all tweaked out while doing it.
“I found that if I took my tablets early in the day, falling asleep at a reasonable time wasn’t difficult. My hunger wasn’t suppressed, but I could eat if I wanted to. I learned that the effects were stronger if I did push back my eating schedule, so I combined my doses with a sort of intermittent fasting. Still, I felt the effects begin to diminish after a couple of months.
“There was no dependency building – I could take weekends or odd days off just fine. Upon a cogent examination I realized that my Modafinil days, as opposed to Armodafinil, were the culprit from lessening returns of getting all I had been accustomed to out of these. I don’t know if ‘Armo’ is really twice as potent as ‘Mod,’ but 150mg of Armodafinil feels way stronger to me than 200mg of Modafinil.
“Anyway, my first order eventually ran out and I took half a year off and returned to my regular stacks of more classical nootropics. I really missed Armodafinil. This may not be the healthiest outlook, but I don’t know how to be ‘that guy’ without it.
“I wasn’t addicted, but I was experienced, and I couldn’t erase my impressions of how well this substance works for me. Eventually I re-upped and resumed. This time, just Armodafinil. Modafinil is very good, don’t get me wrong. But…you know.”
“These days I take Armodafinil Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I am being super cautious because I dread what almost seems inevitable – tolerance buildup. So far, so good. The remaining days of the week aren’t that bad, usually.
“Other nootropic stacks do what they do, and do it well. I even developed my own product line of nootropics because I wasn’t satisfied with what I could find and I thought others might be in the same boat. But I REALLY look forward to Mondays after the weekend.
“To get the most out of Armodafinil, I follow a certain protocol: I create an outline on a big whiteboard, and on sheets of paper, for specifically what I want to accomplish while I’m in the zone. It is easy to get so absorbed in a task that you don’t gauge time like a normal human.
“Setting time-limits, even going so far as to write them out or set alarms, can be very useful. With lists of objectives ready and time limits, it is incredible how much you can get done on Armodafinil.
“Also, it combines well with Racetams like Noopept and Aniracetam, and taking these in conjunction may mitigate against tolerance and foster increased potentiation. And it’s fine to take with coffee. Like I said, digestion of food seems to decrease the effects so I take Armodafinil long before I eat anything substantial, and often I take it alone with no other supplements.”
Concerns about Side Effects
“Armodafinil seems to be unusually ‘safe.’ I say this because it works so well. I mean, it reduces your need for normal cycles of tiredness throughout the day without any apparent side-effects. How can there not be a trade-off somewhere?
“There are rumors that Modafinil, and by extension, Armodafinil, can cause a rare yet deadly-serious skin rash. Cephalon posted a warning stating that at first sign of a rash to discontinue use and see a doctor immediately.
“As it turns out, when I got my second batch of Armo, I developed a rash on my first day of use. It got worse during the second day. I was crushed. And scared. I had been putting off my continuation of this ‘wonder-drug,’ only to discover that it was to be forever out-of-reach for me.
“Then…turned out I just had a case of Poison Oak. The relief I felt! My plans were all still possible. Is this too much weight to put on the expectation of a chemical? Probably. But I am more than pleased with our relationship. If you try Modafinil or Armodafinl, approach them with respect and do not hesitate to seek help if things seem to go in an unintended direction.
“Armodafinil works so well for me, in fact, I wonder sometimes if I should tell people about it. Maybe this should be my secret. For one thing, what if some people do have bad reactions? What if they think that more is better and pop five tabs a day?
“Or…what if they compete in the same fields and markets as I do and Armodafinil gives them the perceived advantages it gives me? I better just keep my mouth shut. So, don’t tell anyone I told you that something like this exists!”

This is the most unbelievably accurate Armodafinil write up I have found anywhere on the internet. I’ve tried most of the popular nootropics on the market and probably most of the common stimulants with Adderall being the most frequently used stim to help increase cognitive performance and life satisfaction by combating ADD that I’ve live with my entire life. I am so blown away by the accurateness of this article as it relates to my experience I just ignored my schedule to sleep now – it is almost 2am where I am at. After hearing of Modafinil several months ago I bought a 40 tab supply from a reputable Indian pharmacy (at least on Reddit). Initially when I tried Modafinil I thought I had injested chalk or a similarly useless phony substance. My first experience with Modafinil I took one 200mg tablet (brand name Modalert) while exhausted from not sleeping the night before and would up sleeping most of the morning and early afternoon. I thought Modafinil was complete garbage, until….. I popped three tabs (600mg) a few weeks later on a whim to further test what I then believed was a bogus medication I was sold from India. I will say that this was the first time I had purchased meds from an Indian pharmacy and probalby pre-disposed to believe whatever I received would be fake or even worse – poison. I live a sheltered life in the US Midwest.
It is now 2:05 am. I can’t spend the time to proof what I’m writing or attempt to conform to perfect academic standards of the English language. Let me get to the point so I can try to catch a few hours of sleep tonight since I am now on my third armo night and I’m starting to have concerns as you did dear author about the “trade-offs” of sleeping a fraction of what is considered normal and essential by most non-Armodafinil induced humans. So the three Modafinils definately registered with me. I wasn’t going to sleep anytime soon and the first few large-dose experiences of Modafinil I even experienced a little Amph-like euphoria. Not quite as profound or harsh, but euphoria nonetheless. I don’t think I reached any major tolerance levels on my initial batch of Modafinil purchased from India because I ran out quick – 3 tabs a day X a 40 tab supply goes quick. I do recall, however, some diminishing returns and do believe if I had continued on for additional weeks straight on modalert I would have been highly tolerant to it.
I have to say that I need to stop writing but I want to finish this quickly. Well as you said in your conclusion I almost do not want to finish or share this information for fear that the secret will get out. My first expriences on Modafinil were in Las Vegas while working at a bi-annual corporate customer and dealer event that brings in about 4000 people every two years. I work in a highly technical niche robotic and GPS geo spatial industry and sell, teach, consult, support and etc. various GPS and Robotic technologies used in surveying and construction these days. If you’re reading this and are in the industry you may have already guessed the company and event that is held in Las Vegas every two years. Enough on that – I just wanted to set the stage on my experience with Modafinil during the time I was presenting, selling and teaching classes in Las Vegas for this event. At that time 600 mg of Modafinil was amazing. So much so that over the two week period on the weekend between dealer and customer events I kept eating those little Modalert pills like candy even though I really didn’t need them to aid me in my work.
So I ran out of modafinil pretty quick and since I had Adderall didn’t attempt to reorder for about 3 weeks after the event. But I had a little longing for some more of those little modafinil beauties and eventually decided to reorder when – I googled Modafinil out of curiosity and to learn more about this wakefulness goddess and stumbled upon Armodafinil. I’ll admit I had to link deep into the Wikipedia pages about stereoisomers, enantiomer – what made Armo different from Moda. Right hand-Left hand – pharmacological differences, advantages, disadvantages, etc. between a drug in one form and its enantiomer-mirror form. I absolutely cannot describe how real and profound armodafinil is any better than you already have done so I am simply going to quote with a little paraphrasing the experience you have shared because your experience identically “mirrors” the effects I have experienced from what may be the closest NZT-48 Limitless-like drug in existence – Armodafinil.
“I REALLY look forward to [Work each day – so much so I have slept no more than 2-3 hours for the past 3 nights and have no trouble starting the day at least an hour earlier than I used to with excitement]. To get the most out of Armodafinil, I follow a certain protocol: I create an outline on a big whiteboard, and on sheets of paper, for specifically what I want to accomplish while I’m in the zone[If I don’t do this I’m afraid I will encounter some of those “trade-offs” and negative consequences from a drug that has to be too good to be true]. It is easy to get so absorbed in a task that you don’t gauge time like a normal human [this may be the best one sentance description I have read about the experiences I have had on Armodafinil.]. Setting time-limits… can be very useful… With lists of objectives… it is amazing how much you can get done on Armodafinil… [I believe now that if I can structure the experience and harness the productive power of this drug previous constraints, limitations, barrriers, etc. could be removed.] Also, it combines well with Racetams like Noopept and Aniracetam, and taking these in conjunction may mitigate against tolerance and foster increased potentiation. [I fear tolerance, but hope you are correct that I can manage and regulate this beautiful drug to avoid this and that it is far less suseptible to tolerance build up as it’s opposite drug hand – Modafinil] And it’s fine to take with coffee – [yes indeed. Gotta have my coffee]. I would love to talk with someone else that has experinced Armodafinil for a while. I do not want to share my name or email for obvious reasons on a public post, but I will try to setup a anonomys email and would very much appreciate it if I could talk with you dear author and others that have experienced Armodafinil. I would be especially interested in speaking with those who have been taking Armodafinil for a while so that I can learn more about the longer term experiences. I am not all that tired, but I feel like I could sleep and I really do need to try and rest. I think…
I transitioned to Mylan armodafinil when the generic was released last year. It goes not work like Branded Nuvigil. Started having anxiety attacks, couldn’t sleep at night. and I was so sleepy during the the day. I don;t even dare drive using this version of the drug. It is still better than not taking anything, because stimulants alone don’t do much for me. I may request changing my dose to 200 mg as Mylan doesn’t make a 200 mg generic – yet. I am hoping it is only an issue with this particular manufacturer. I Mimm Nuvigil.
