Although Choline was first identified in 1865, most people are still not aware of what it is or how important this nutrient is to health and intelligence.

The supplement thwarts the re-depositing of fats (lipids) within the liver, preventing an unhealthy accumulation that can impair organ function. Choline promotes the transportation of fats throughout the body where they can be burned as energy.
Choline tablets are also prescribed in a number of clinical settings such as in the treatment of liver disorders such as hepatitis and fatty liver disease.
This natural compound is also becoming increasingly useful in the treatment of neurological disorders. Studies have found positive links between increasing Choline intake and the reduction of symptoms for Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disorder, recovery after traumatic brain injury, and ADHD.

Higher levels of Choline can lead to increased Acetylcholine production which can improve cognitive processing.
Another reason to take Choline tablets is to promote better utilization of fats in the body. Choline prevents an overabundance of fat in the liver which can lead to conditions such as fatty liver disease.
But it also helps to ensure fats are available and can be transported to your cells to form and maintain cellular membranes. Choline (in the form of phosphatidylcholine) is used to repair worn our membranes and when new cells are created.
The membranes are the walls that surround all of the cells in your body. But rather than being passive physiological structures, they are highly involved in healthy cell function and messaging between neurons on the brain.
This helps to protect the body and brain from damage due to toxins like alcohol.
When cell membranes are working as they should be, nutrients and oxygen flow in and toxins flow out. This can deteriorate quickly if not enough fats (think Omega 3’s and Omega 6’s) are available to incorporate into the membranes.
Furthermore, if there is not enough choline available in the brain, the choline found in phosphatidylcholine within cell membranes may be stripped to meet immediate demands.

How to Take Choline Tablet Supplements
The recommended dosage of Choline will vary according to your individual needs. The adequate daily intake for adults has been set at 425 mg for women and 550 mg for men.
Pregnant women and nursing mothers should be consuming even more Choline to promote healthy brain function in their babies. Taking between 400 and 600 mg of Choline per day is recommended.
Dosages can be taken all at once early in the morning or twice a day with a second Choline tablet in the early afternoon. You should not be taking your Choline vitamins later in the day since this can make it difficult to fall asleep at night.
One thing you need to look out for is to ensure you are getting the right type of Choline tablet. There are many different source of this nutrient such as Choline Bitartrate, Choline Chloride and Choline Citrate.
Unfortunately, all of these three formulations are viewed by neuroscientists to be inferior since they do not have high bioavailibity.
With many of these supplements, less than half of the choline you consume in your daily dosage is actually absorbed into the bloodstream and an even smaller amount makes it to the brain.
For this reason, it is highly recommended that you look for CDP Choline or Alpha GPC Choline tablets. These choline pills are fully bioavailable and provide the body with the type of choline that is naturally uses in your brain.
Many users report that memory boosting results are much greater with these forms compared to generic Choline capsules.
Safe Dosages of Choline Powder
As an all-natural ingredient, there are very few side effects reported with this supplement. This is especially true when taken in accordance with the instructions and recommendations above.
You should not take excessive doses, since these can sometimes lead to increased body temperature, sweating, and loss of appetite. If any of these effects occur, you want to immediately discontinue use of your choline tablets.
