Desmopressin is a drug also sold and/or distributed under the names DDAVP, DesmoMelt, Stimate, and Minrin.
It is considered to be a synthetic replacement for one of the natural peptides found in the brain – vasopressin.
Desmopressin is normally used to treat medical conditions such as frequent night time urination and to control increased thirst and loss of water that is associated with diabetes insipidus (or water diabetes). It may be taken as a tablet/pill, an injection, or a nasal spray medication.
Some nootropic users will take Desmopressin without a prescription because it can produce significant gains in memory and information retention. However, this usage may lead to negative side effects and the drug has not been approved as a cognitive enhancement product.

As a nootropic, Desmopressin is reported to produce an almost eidetic memory for several hours after taking it.
A 1997 study found that after taking a spray of Desmopressin, adolescents saw improved concrete memory of words as well as faster reaction time in a test that involved scanning memorized digits.

The exact mechanism of action for this effect is unknown and current research only makes conjecture about how Desmopressin actually affects the central nervous system.

From a medical standpoint, Desmopressin is known as the anti-diuretic hormone (ADH). This is primarily due to its effects on the kidneys, which cause them to pass out less water in your urine. This ultimately means that your urine becomes much more concentrated.

Desmopressin Benefits:
There are a number of benefits associated with Desmopressin. The supplement is prescribed quite often by doctors for the treatment of nocturnal enuresis. This is a fancy way of saying bed wetting. Of course, the patient must normally be considered otherwise healthy.

As an example, using this supplement to control water diabetes expect an initial dose of .05 mg twice a day. Later, this could be changed to a range of 0.1 to 0.8 mg per day, possibly divided into several administrations. Of course, dosage for children should be determined by a qualified medical professional.
Desmopressin Side Effects:
There are a number of side effects which have been associated with this drug. One of the things that it actually does is to reduce the amount of sodium and electrolytes in your blood.
This may, therefore, lead to a number of possible effects like chills, confusion, convulsions or seizures, decreased urination, drowsiness, fast heartbeat, fever, a continuous or returning headache, shortness of breath or wheezing, tightness in the chest, skin rash, itching, or rapid weight gain.

Desmopressin Review:
Desmopressin is a powerful drug that mat have some memory enhancing benefits. However it should not be used for cognitive enhancement due to the extremely high risk profile that may result in serious health problems if it is misused.
You should only ever take Desmopressin under the guidance of a qualified doctor or pharmacist. If you are looking for nootropics to replace Desmopressin, consider trying Aniracetam or Pramiracetam as two powerful options.

I have been prescribed Stimate for mild Hemophilia for most of my life, I never knew about the memory aspect because I only took it for minor injuries. But I can confirm the urination bit, it will make you urinate FAR less and if you drink too much you will begin feeling very, very sick. It can also cause minor flushing and warmth of the face and ears as a very common side-effect.
I do not recommend this for regular usage even as a hemophiliac my fleet of specialists said to never take it for more than three days in a row and take a large break after doing so.
If it does indeed boost memory retention I can’t see taking it a few times a month before a cram session or major lecture as being too bad.
Also never take more than two sprays, one spray in each nostril.
