Ganoderma Plus contains a combination of red reishi mushrooms and spores. According to a retailer website, the spores of ganoderma lucidum are 75 times more effective than the mushroom.
Ganoderma mushrooms have been used to promote health and longevity in Japan, China and other Asian countries. In China, the mushroom is called lingzhi, while it is known as reishi in Japan.
The mushroom has been used in Chinese medicine for over 2000 years, making it one of the oldest mushrooms to be used medicinally.
Nutri Dyn’s Ganoderma Plus is promoted for its immune-regulating and blood pressure supporting benefits. The manufacturer also says that Ganoderma spores “may support liver function, normal cholesterol, allergies and more.”

Ganoderma lucidum is the botanical name for red reishi mushrooms. The word “lucidum” translates as “shiny” or “brilliant” and refers to the glossy appearance of the red reishi mushroom.
Reishi mushrooms contain complex sugars called beta-glucans. These sugars may stop the growth and spread of cancer cells. In animal studies, cells in their immune systems became more active when they were given reishi mushrooms.
There have also been clinical studies that indicate that reishi mushrooms may strengthen immune response in humans.
Ganoderma Plus is also a source of important polysaccharides, triterpeniods, proteins and amino acids. This mushroom also contains ganoderic acid, which has been researched for its effects on histamine release, liver function and oxygen utilization throughout the body.

In a study on high cholesterol levels, reishi mushroom supplements increased the amount of HDL-cholesterol, the so-called “good” cholesterol, in patients who had borderline elevations of cholesterol. Laboratory studies also indicate that reishi mushroom can lower blood cholesterol in humans.
Laboratory studies indicate that reishi mushrooms may have antihistamine effects and may be beneficial for reducing inflammation. However, there are no human tests on reishi mushroom’s effects in this area.
