L-Dopa is an amino acid and a hormone that is made naturally by a number of plants and animals. In humans, it is created via biosynthesis from the amino acid L-Tyrosine.
It is a precursor to several important and powerful neurotransmitters which include Dopamine, Norepinephrine (Noradrenaline) and Epinephrine (Adrenaline). These are collectively known as catecholamines and they play a role in the stimulation and arousal systems in your brain.
In its pure form, L-Dopa is considered to be a psychoactive chemical, and can also be used for the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease and a number of other conditions related to lowered levels of the above neurotransmitters (especially Dopamine).

The main function of L-Dopa is as a precursor to several different neurotransmitters, especially Dopamine.
The Dopamine chemical cannot itself cross over the blood-brain barrier and must be synthesized in the brain.
However, L-Dopa can penetrate this barrier and leads to increased levels of this pleasure-inducing hormone. L-Dopa is converted into Dopamine by the DOPA decarboxylase enzyme, also known as aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase.
Another necessary component of this process is Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxal phosphate) which is often stacked with L-Dopa supplements for increased conversion efficiency.

Would this be good for someone with MS (Mulitple Scorosis)?
I would try high vitamin D. What I’ve read is that this will address de-myelination issues.

Después de probar con muchos medicamentos, su neurólogo nos receta l-dopa carbiodopa y solo notamos que esta como ausente, sin fuerzas, y no come nada esto es normal? Solo le damos 2 ml 3 veces al día, pero deberíamos seguir subiendo cada semana. Deberíamos seguir o quitárselo? Su tratamiento es tretabenacina,bacofleno, diazepam, increlex.
