Neurocetam is a brand of Piracetam or Nootropil sold by Micro Labs, Brown & Burk Phils Inc. It is sold in the form of 400 mg, 800 mg and 1200 mg tablets as well as 500 mg/mL syrup and a 200 mg injection.
There is also a Neurocetam Plus tablet, which contains 800mg of Piracetam with 500mg of Citicoline (CDP Choline).
Neurocetam use is indicated for the treatment of cognitive dysfunction, memory loss due to Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia, stroke recovery and to slow down brain degeneration caused by aging.
This nootropic drug has been shown to promote memory and learning, increase blood flow to the brain, and support alertness and brain cell health.

Neurocetam is manufactured by Micro Labs and is distributed in India, the Philippines and other countries in Asia.
In addition to those uses mentioned above, it is prescribed for the treatment of myoclonus, dyslexia, Down’s syndrome, vertigo, epilepsy, motion sickness, Raynaud’s disease, sickle-cell anemia, alcohol withdrawal, Parkinson’s disease and a number of other conditions.
It is used clinically in the UK, Russia, Europe, South American and parts of Asia. Neurocetam has not been approved for use in Canada, the United States or Australia.
It is also used off-label to enhance brain function, neuron health and memory. It appears to ameliorate cognitive deficits under certain conditions causing impairment.
The active ingredient in Neurocetam is Piracetam, which was the original nootropic agent discovered in 1964 by Dr. Corneliu E. Giurgea. It was given the name “nootropic” in recognition of its ability to promote neurological function without the side effects seen with stimulants or sedatives.
Piracetam (2-oxo-1-pyrrolidine-acetamide) is a cyclical derivative of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) and has a pyrrolidine core, like all members of the Racetam family of drugs.
This nootropic agent is described as having neuroprotective properties, which means that it may help to protect brain cells against certain forms of damage and degeneration. In particular, it appears to restore cell membrane fluidity and protect neurons from damage caused by hypoxia (insufficient oxygen).

Effects & Benefits
How piracetam works is not completely understood. Scientific study has identified several mechanisms of action.
It appears to increase the function of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine by facilitating activation of muscarinic cholinergic (ACh) receptors. It is also believed to increase glutamate receptor activation, thereby promoting memory function and long-term potentiation.
Additional mechanisms include increasing oxygen consumption and circulation to neurons as well as increasing membrane fluidity changes in EEG activity. Piracetam can also increase levels of monoamine neurotransmitter release and turnover and has been shown in animal studies to affect dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine activity.
Preliminary findings suggest that the effects of Neurocetam on brain function are steroid-dependant. Studies have shown that long-term administration of this nootropic drug can cause small increases in plasma corticosterone levels and that the effects of Piracetam on memory are blocked by corticosteroid receptor antagonists.
As the first nootropic ever discovered, it is the most widely researched of the racetam compounds. However, it also has the lowest potency and requires a large dosage to experience beneficial effects.

Side Effect
Neurocetam is generally regarded as well-tolerated and is safe when taken under the supervision of a medical professional. This cognitive enhancer is non-toxic and has not been reported to cause any dangerous side effects.

Use of Neurocetam tablets in patients with liver disease is not contraindicated. Some research suggests that dose adjustment is not required, but your doctor may decide to give you a smaller dose if you have a history of liver problems.
Do not take any form of Neurocetam or Piracetam if you are allergic to ingredients in this product. Do not use if you have Huntington’s disease, brain hemorrhage, bleeding disorders or are scheduled to undergo surgery in the next two weeks.
