Noopept is the brand name of a Nootropic supplement that was developed in Russia during the 1960’s Cold War era.
It has since been patented (1995) and is most commonly found in Russia and throughout Europe.
Although classified as a drug in Russia, it is available without a prescription throughout much of Europe and the United States.
Due to the unregulated status of Noopept in the USA, there are a lot of questions about how to use it properly.
One of the most common unanswered questions is whether to use Noopept sublingually or as an oral supplement.
Many new users of Noopept also wonder about what the proper way to take a nootropic sublingually actually is.
In this article, we will answer that important question as well as provide more general information on using Noopept.

- Supports memory, focus & mood
- Boosts mental alertness & energy

Noopept is a member of a group of supplements and pseudo-pharmaceuticals known as Nootropics.
These compounds are reported to have the ability to improve cognition and related functions.
Noopept in particular is said to be as much as 1,000 times more potent than any of its previously discovered relatives.
It is thought to have the unique ability to stimulate the development of more neurons in the brain and to protect brain tissue from certain forms of damage.
It is also viewed as a potential treatment for cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
In non-impaired individuals, many experts and users alike consider Noopept to be a performance enhancer for the brain. It has been shown to increase memory formation and the capacity to learn, which makes this an excellent supplement for students as well as those working in highly technical fields.
It also improves the access to stored memories, boost the number of connections in your brain and, enhances logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
There is evidence suggesting that Noopept has the ability to improve patterns of speech in certain individuals.
Many users also see some physical benefits from Noopept. These include an increased level of energy and alertness. You will also likely feel more awake and aware of what is happening around you. The Noopept experience also extend to better perception and even faster reflexes.
Furthermore, many users notice a decrease in their levels of stress and anxiety along with improved sleep patterns.
Current research is being conducted (especially within Russia) into a number of medical applications for Noopept. This includes the restoration of memory and other cognitive functions after brain injuries, ischemia (a type of stroke), and prenatal brain damage.
Noopept is observed to improve nervous system function in patients with organic disorders and the ability to repair damaged cells and receptor sites that are commonly seen in Alzheimer’s patients.

- 1000x more potent than Piracetam
- Supports memory, focus and mood
- Boosts mental alertness and energy
Using Noopept Sublingually
The word “sublingual” literally means below the tongue. Sublingual administration of a supplement or drug simply refers to the taking of a pill by dissolving it under the tongue instead of ingesting it. The main benefit of this method is that it helps to get the substance into your bloodstream much faster.
Normally a supplement which is consumed or ingested orally will need to be digested in the typical fashion. This involves going into the stomach and being broken down into its components. Many times, this process of chemical break down will occur within the liver. Other times this may happen while in the intestines.
In either case, the supplement is often degraded or flushed out by the time it is taken up into the bloodstream. At this point it is carried throughout the body to wherever it can be most effective.
By using Noopept in a sublingual manner, this allows the supplement to avoid going through the process of digestion and absorption from the intestines.
Instead, the salivary glands take them chemicals and they are directly infused into the bloodstream. Then, your Noopept is rapidly carried throughout the body and into the brain.
Using it in such a fashion will increase the rate at which effects become noticeable and make the effects much stronger. While many nootropics are made more powerful if taking sublingually, Noopept is particularly sensitive to this style of administration.
Some users say that the benefits of Noopept are negligible when taken orally. But if used in a sublingual manner, Noopept can be incredibly powerful and have a more stimulating influence on brain activity.

- Focus longer, clear brain fog & feel more motivated
- Boost energy, alertnes & memory
- Contains 12 safe and natural nootropic ingredients
Noopept Dosage:
Because noopept powder is so concentrated compared to other nootropics, you really want to make sure not to take too much.
The recommended dosage level is thought to be between 10 and 20 mg, taken one to three times per day.
For new users, especially those unfamiliar with Nootropics, it is suggested that you start with as little as 5 mg once per day, in the morning.
Give this dosage some time to begin working as it may require building up within your system first. Only after you have become familiar with the effects should you raise the dose.
Typically, you will place the small amount of Noopept powder under your tongue and leave it there for one to two minutes. Depending on how much you take at a time, you may need to leave it for longer in order for it to fully absorb.
After two minutes, you may want to wash your mouth out with juice or mouthwash to get rid of any lingering taste.
If you do plan to stack your Noopept supplements with a source of Choline, it is best to take the choline about 30 minutes before using Noopept sublingually. This will ensure that the choline has time to reach your brain before the Noopept becomes active.
Noopept Side Effects:
As with other members of the Racetam family of Nootropics, Noopept is extremely non-toxic and considered very safe. There are some mild potential side effects, especially when take in higher than recommended doses.
These may include an increase in blood pressure, headaches, irritability, and sedation. Most of these reactions have been observed in those using very high doses.
If you do feel any of these effects, consider switching to taking Noopept orally and with food. This will slow down the rate of absorption and can lessen the risk of headaches or symptoms of fatigue.
While using noopept sublingually produces much more powerful benefits, there is always the chance that your body will be overly-sensitive to this much of the supplement reaching your brain all at once.

“Extremely nontoxic” — funny.
Substances can be either toxic, partially toxic, or nontoxic.
A box can be either full, partially full, or empty.
“Extremely empty” doesn’t violate grammatic rules, just principles of common sense.
You don’t really understand the subject you’re writing about, do you.
Hi Bo,
Thanks for your comment. That’s actually not entirely true. There are a number of different gradable toxicity classification scales used today in different government regulatory agencies as well as in the scientific community. In fact, the US government doesn’t even use the word non-toxic in their classification scale. Instead Toxicity Class IV refers to substances that are “practically nontoxic”; this is because it’s quite difficult to provide an absolute value for whether something is toxic, partially toxic, or nontoxic.
The best way to approximate a “Toxicity Score” is using the LD50 which provides a numeric median. Since we don’t do toxicity scores in humans (for obvious reasons), this usually is conducted on a small number of mice and we have to translate the value to humans. This means it is an imperfect measure of toxicity itself.
According to http://www.nature.com/npp/journal/v11/n4/abs/1380206a.html the LD 50 of Noopept for mice is 5000 mg/kg. (This makes it less toxic than table salt). That means you would have to give a 1 kg mouse 5000 mg of Noopept for it to have a 50% chance of a lethal event.
For scaling to humans, it is sometimes recommended to multiply the result by 0.7, but again this is a very general rule of thumb and does not take into account differences in metabolism for different compounds. But assume you have a 70 kg human, that would mean the lethal dose is 24.5 grams (245,000 mg) of Noopept. Now consider the fact that the typical noopept dose is about 10 – 40 mg, which is 6000x lower than the LD50. I would consider that “Extremely Non-Toxic”.
In any event, this is intended as a user review where we try to translate scientific concepts into easy to read language and not an academic paper, therefore some use of non-scientific terminology is to be expected.
Very well said. I don’t have anything to add to the conversation, but I wanted to commend the admin at handling such pointless trolling with both grace and intelligence. Thanks for such a fantastic, informative site.
Thanks DL :)
Your feedback means a lot to me! I’m glad you find the site informative!
Extremely informational reply! love it
Sick burn sir, bravo.
