One question we see asked a lot from new nootropic users is “What is the best nootropic dosage?”
There is such a wide range of cognitive enhancement supplements out there that there is no single right answer to this question.
For one thing, nootropics vary greatly in their degrees of strength and their bioavailability (the extent to which the supplement can be absorbed by the body and then cross the blood-brain barrier to influence your neurons).
To complicate the matter, there are any number of individual factors that can affect what dosage of a supplement is right for you. This can depend upon how you want to use the substance, whether you are stacking it with any other compounds, the specific benefits you are hoping to achieve and your personal sensitivity.

- Promotes brain health & communication
- Supports memory, reasoning & cognition

The dosage you use also depends on the half-life of whichever supplement you intend to take.
If the supplement in question has a long half-life, you might decide to take two larger dosages spread out through the day to get full effects.
If you are using a nootropic with a short half-life (such as the fat soluble Aniracetam), the effects may wear off after two hours or so.
In this case, it is better to take smaller dosages three or four times a day to make sure you are getting the best results.
Below are some common nootropic dosages to use with the most popular brain supplements out there. Remember that these guidelines are very situation-dependent and your own sensitivity level must be the ultimate determinant of how much to use.
Always start out with a smaller dosage than what is recommended to make sure you do not experience any negative side effects. Once you have observed that the compound in question is safe for you to use, then you can consider increasing to a full dose.
Another option you may see talked about online and in forms is to start with an “Attack Dose” or “Mega Dose” to full activate the nootropic effects on your cognitive abilities. This is something that should be reserved for individuals who already have some familiarity with using the supplements listed below.
Piracetam Dosage
You will typically see Piracetam tablets being sold in 400 mg or 800 mg sizes. However, most authoritative research studies have established that a dosage of at least 4 grams per day is necessary to experience the full range of benefits. Typically doses of Piracetam will range from 2 grams up to 4.8 grams taken 2-3 times a day.

Aniracetam Dosage
Aniracetam was developed as a more concentrated version of Piracetam which means you can use a smaller amount at a time.
The suggested Aniracetam dose is between 1-2 g but remember that this supplement is fat soluble with a shorter duration of effectiveness.
If you feel like you are not seeing consistent results through the day, consider using a 1 gram dosage every two hours to keep it working during your most productive hours.
Oxiracetam Dosage
Oxiracetam has a very slight edge on Aniracetam in terms of potency. Because it is a bit stronger, the recommended Oxiracetam powder dosing is 800 mg – 1.5 grams taken between 2 and three times every day.
Pramiracetam Dosage
Pramiracetam has been referenced as 30-60 times more powerful than Piracetam. It is also fat soluble like Aniracetam which means it is absorbed into the body faster and is more bioavailable.
Unlike Aniracetam, it does not have the same short half-life and its effects can last several hours. The typical Pramiracetam dosage is between 200 – 400 mg taken between two or three times in a day.
Noopept Dosage
Noopept is renowned as a peptide derivative of Piracetam which shows as much as 1000 times the concentration of this founding Racetam.
In other words, the same effects of Piracetam will be observable with a 1000 times smaller amount of Noopept powder or pills.
Because of this, you will need a much smaller dosage of Noopept in order to be effective. This supplement is effective in amounts as small as 10 – 40 mg two or three times a day. Taking more than this amount will not lead to better results and may instead cause a headache.
Choline Dosage
In most cases, nootropics like the ones listed above are used with choline supplements to ensure that they work. If you take a Racetam without a choline source, you run the risk of over-taxing your acetylcholine neurotransmitter production which can limit the effectiveness of your nootropic regimen while also causing unpleasant headaches.
There are several different options for using choline, but the two best are Alpha GPC and Citicoline. These are both known to work best in doses between 100 mg or 500 mg, but this will really depend on the amounts of any other supplements you use alongside them.
For example, Aniracetam and Alpha GPC are typically used in a 4: 1 ratio so if you take 2 grams of Aniracetam you would want to use 500 mg of Alpha GPC.
