The name brand Nootropyl (also spelled Nootropil in some places) is a much-touted brain aid that is designed to improve the way that your cognitive systems work.
It has been promoted as an intelligence booster with low potential for side effects and no risk of toxicity.
This substance is a modified version of the natural GABA neurochemical and is better known by the generic name Piracetam.
The trade name Nootropyl product has limited distribution in the USA where the FDA places stringent restrictions on the type of compounds that can reach the market.
Nootropyl 800 mg tablets can only be prescribed for rare medical conditions such as myoclonus.
Owing to this, most of the Nootropyl in use today is purchased as generic Piracetam without a prescription.

Nootropyl was first synthesized by a Belgian research team at UCB Laboratories in the 1960s.
The compound was unlike any other drugs that had been invented at the time and it spurred great interest in the neuroscience research community.
Effects of Nootropyl were reported to include a higher degree of mental stimulation and an enhancement in the clarity of your thoughts.
Despite this manifestation, Nootropyl was found to not work in the same way as psychoactive drugs with stimulant properties.
Indeed, Nootropyl warranted the formulation of an entirely new class of substances known as Nootropics.
Experiences of taking Piracetam are often characterized by increased fluidity of mental tasks. You may feel that this compound makes brain functions more efficient and require less effort.
Almost all individuals report that their memory capacity is improved and they begin to have much greater recall powers, are able to retain vastly more new information, and have better access to older memories. This nootropic is also said to wake up the brain, leading to enhanced awareness, alertness and ability to focus.
It is also believed that Piracetam may change the way in which the two distinct halves of your brain work together, facilitating a higher level of communication between the left-brain serial processor and the right-brain associated processor.
This is where some of the most profound gains in intellect have been caused by Nootropyl, resulting in more creativity, better problem solving, and a higher level of comprehension.

Nootropyl and your Brain
What is it about Nootropyl that makes all of these changes possible? This smart drug is known to improve the flow of information in your brain. It has been seen to make transmission between your neurons more effective and to stimulate heightened activity in the learning and memory centers of your brain.
Nootropyl is known to modulate Acetylcholine. This neurotransmitter is tied to memory encoding, synaptic plasticity, and executive function related to attention. Piracetam also stimulates the development of new connections between the left and right hemisphere of the brain as well as in the hippocampus region of the brain.
It has also been observed to raise the membrane fluidity of your neurons, making the transportation of nutrients in and waste products out more efficient.
Nootropyl 800 mg is so well-esteemed because it has highly positive effects on the brain with extremely low human toxicity. While other psychoactive compounds and analeptic drugs can temporarily increase vigilance by stimulating the central nervous system (such as caffeine, Ritalin, Adderall, and amphetamines), they all can result in some fairly serious potential side effects.
These substances overly tax your body for a short period of time and you are then left recovering from the high with a formidable energy crash. Nootropyl is different: its mechanism of action does not involve CNS stimulation and it actually may contribute to a healthier brain over time.
This compound is known to be neuroprotective, meaning that it produces conditions which improve maintenance and development of brain cells. In fact, Nootropyl is far less toxic than caffeine and even table salt.
Memory loss due to aging is believed to be caused in part due to declines in the cholinergic system. As choline neurons die off and Acetylcholine levels drop, it can corrupt working memory capacity as well as long term memory consolidation. In some individuals, the result is confusion or even dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Nootropyl is observed to have positive Cholinergic activity and may actually support the generation of new choline receptors in the frontal cortex. Research on Piracetam use for Alzheimer’s has been contradictory, with some studies showing positive memory results and others not. More research is needed in this area.
It has also seen positive applications in the treatment of strokes, dyslexia, ADHD, vertigo, and alcoholism and other forms of substance addiction, although research is limited and more current studies are needed. Anecdotal reports also suggest it may have benefits for people with depression and anxiety disorders.
Nootropyl is widely used as a prescription drug in other countries, but in the USA it is not regulated by the FDA and therefore cannot be prescribed by your doctor.
Legality
Generic Piracetam is legal in most countries around the world and is considered an un-regulated, un-scheduled substance in the USA. While it is not sold in the US, it is legal to import Piracetam for personal use.
The powdered formulations of generic Piracetam are also significantly cheaper than the brand name Nootropyl tablets, sometimes costing as little as $0.20 per day for a standard dosage, while Nootropyl can cost upwards of $0.50 per day.
You can purchase Piracetam online in 500 g amounts for $39.99. A typical dosage of this compound is between 800 mg to 4.8 g per day split into three equal doses.
For best results, it has been recommended by users that Nootropyl should be used with a Choline supplement like Alpha GPC or Citicoline, as well as Vitamin B5.

I have been suffering from drowsiness for close to a year now and I did all I could to alleviate the situation to no avail.I went and saw my Doctor who prescribed Nootropyl 800mg and I just started taking them.i have dome so for 2 days already but still feeling same. How long can I take the medication?cos my Doctor says 5 days.should I continue if in 5 days I see no change?Pruddy
Hi Pruddy,
Thanks for your comments. You should definitely consult with your doctor about how long to take Nootropyl for and before you decide to stop taking it. Prescribing guidelines posted online suggest that it may need to be used for up to 2 months to acheive therapeutic effects. I hope that information is helpful to you!
