The OptiMind formula contains 12 nootropics ingredients which have a track record of effectiveness in clinical trials.
This supplement includes: GABA, Phosphatidylserine, Vitamin D-3, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Caffeine, Huperzine A, Tyrosine, Taurine, Vitamin B-12, Sulbutiamine, Vinpocetine and Bacopa Monnieri.
Together, these ingredients are said to increase energy, alertness and focus while also supporting memory, learning, lower stress levels and mental clarity.
How does OptiMind work? The ingredients in this supplement can be broken down according to the basic goals they are intended to accomplish:
- Increase availability of necessary neurotransmitters
- Promote alertness and heightened energy
- Support overall brain health and neuronal function
By including ingredients that target each of these goals, this supplement is promoted to deliver both short-term results as well as long-term benefits for brain function. According to the manufacturer Alternascript LLC, “Within 1 hour, you’ll feel a boost in energy, alertness, and focus. In a month, you’ll have higher overall energy levels.”
Ingredients in OptiMind
The following is a short description of the effects of each of the ingredients found in OptiMind pills. You can learn more about the individual ingredients by clicking on the descriptions below:
Tyrosine: This amino-acid is the precursor for Dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter linked to executive function, feelings of pleasure, the reward feedback loop, motivation as well as attention. Supporting sufficient dopamine levels may improve mood, increase mental drive and enhance focus.
Sulbutiamine: This is a popular mood-enhancing nootropic that also shows benefits for improved energy levels. It is a specialized form of Vitamin B-1 that was designed to be more bioavailable to the brain. In research studies, it has been found to increase memory storage and improve cognitive function.
Vinpocetine: This herbal extract from the Periwinkle plant acts as both an anti-oxidant and a cerebro-vasodilatory. It increases blood circulation in the brain by causing blood vessels to dilate or widen. This has been found to increase oxygen delivery to neurons, protecting brain cells from damage caused by a lack of oxygen.
The effects of Vinpocetine are linked to improved memory, increased levels of certain neurotransmitters, better focus, and improved brain cell health.
GABA: GABA is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain, responsible for preventing over-excitement of neuronal pathways and for alleviating anxiety. It is sometimes used as a nootropic to increase focus and prevent stress. According to the makers of this supplement, “GABA is in OptiMind to deliver clean, balanced energy without jitteriness or crashing!”
There is some debate in the research community about the effectiveness of GABA supplements as this molecule shows poor ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.
Phosphatidylserine: This phospholipid is an important component in neuronal cell membranes and may help to prevent damage related to aging.
This supplement has also been observed to improve acetylcholine and dopamine synthesis and has been shown to promote learning, memory and attention span. It has also been shown to reduce cortisol levels, potentially improving sleep and insomnia.
Vitamin D-3: Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins for whole-body health and a large percentage of the population is believed to be deficient in this compound. This molecule is needed for the production of serotonin in the brain and deficiency has been correlated with poor mood, diminished cognitive function, weakened immune function and low energy.
Alpha Lipoic Acid: ALA is important for aiding in the removal of heavy metals from the brain and throughout the body. Recent studies have shown a strong link between excessive exposure to heavy metals and cognitive decline, memory loss and brain fog.
By helping to detox the body from these heavy metals (which are commonly found in fish and many other components of the Western diet), this supplement may promote improved brain cell health. It can also protect against oxidative damage and has been shown to increase energy levels and memory.
Huperzine A: As an acetylcholinesterase inhibitory, this natural herbal extract has been shown to increase acetylcholine activity in the brain. This neurotransmitter is important for memory retention, learning and cognitive processing. It also plays a role in executive function and the ability to sustain attention and consciousness. Huperzine A may also increase nerve growth factor levels, improve brain plasticity and function as an anti-oxidant.
Caffeine: This stimulant is proven to increase energy, alertness, focus and help to temporarily combat drowsiness and fatigue. Caffeine is a Xanthine alkaloid that stimulates the release of dopamine and can imitate the effects of adenosine. OptiMind contains an equivalent amount of caffeine as one cup of coffee, balanced with other compounds that may reduce the jitters and energy crash linked to the use of this ingredient.
Bacopa Monnieri: This Ayurvedic herb extract has an anxiolytic effect and may reduce stress. It is reported to improve the efficiency of nerve transmissions in the hippocampus and may enhance memory while reducing signs of cognitive decline due to aging. It has been used for thousands of years to support mood, improve learning and promote brain health.
Taurine: This amino acid found in Optimind has been shown to protect against oxidative stress. It exhibits anti-depressant and anti-anxiety effects and may protect the brain against certain forms of toxins. Taurine also reduces cortisol levels linked to excessive stress and plays a role in Long Term Potentiation or the formation of long-term memories.
Vitamin B-12: This vitamin is often deficient among vegetarians and people who do not eat large amounts of meat. But even if you are not deficient, increasing your B12 intake may improve energy levels, memory and mood. This supplement plays a role in the metabolism of carbohydrates and has been shown in some studies to improve fatigue, muscle weakness and vision.
OptiMind Experience
In my experience, OptiMind was effective at promoting an increase in mental energy, concentration and productivity.
Its effects were noticeable within 30 minutes after taking the supplement and lasted for between 3-4 hours. I found OptiMind to be particularly effective when experiencing brain fog, sleep deprivation or fatigue.
It delivers an apparent increase in alertness and ability to mentally process information. It can help to make you feel less overwhelmed when taking on large tasks, making it easier to quiet the mind and get things done.
The effects are much subtler than drugs such as Modafinil or Adderall or the nootropic Phenylpiracetam. These compounds can all have the effect of turning you into a “productivity robot” who can zero in on one task and focus intently for hours at a time, without necessarily even realizing that time is passing.
OptiMind does not do this – which can be a good thing for anyone who wants a natural increase in focus and a supplement that they can take on a daily basis. But this supplement may not be strong enough for some users looking for an Adderall alternative.
I also found that the supplement improved my reflexes and moderately increased energy during athletic competitions. When taking OptiMind before a hockey game, I felt a slight reduction in fatigue and improved reflexes for winning face-offs. Though not as profound as other supplement stacks including Acetyl L-Carnitine and Creatine, this was a pleasant unexpected benefit of the supplement.
One of the best endorsements I had for this supplement came from my fiancée who is currently studying for a Ph.D. in Nutrition. I gave her one capsule of OptiMind to try while doing her lab work which consists of running a number of repetitive and highly intricate tests. She remarked afterwards that she was able to work all morning without taking any breaks and felt more clear-headed and less stressed.

What is OptiMind Missing?
There are some important brain-boosting ingredients that OptiMind does not include. This is only to be expected when trying to fit a limited number of ingredients into a finite amount of space within one or two capsules.
However, if you want to use this supplement to form the basis of a nootropic stack, you may want to consider adding a choline supplement such as Alpha GPC, Krill Oil as a source of Omega 3 fatty acids, Magnesium, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Creatine, Lion’s Mane Mushroom Extract, and perhaps a Racetam like Piracetam, Aniracetam or Noopept.
This includes all of the most important cognitive ingredients that I use in my daily nootropic stack.
OptiMind Side Effects
OptiMind contains all-natural ingredients and is safe when used at appropriate dosages. There may be some contraindications between the ingredients in this product and certain medications or for individuals with certain pre-existing health conditions.
If you are currently taking any drugs or dietary supplements or have been diagnosed with a medical condition, you should speak to a doctor to determine if this supplement is appropriate for you.
When used by health adults, this supplement will not cause any serious side effects. Mild side effects may include insomnia, restlessness or over-stimulation if taken at high dosages. For anyone who is sensitive to caffeine, this supplement could cause jitters, anxiety and other side effects linked to excessive stimulation of the Central Nervous System.
In my experience, the OptiMind supplement caused a feeling of excess stimulation on one occasion when using two capsules, but not when taking one capsule. However, I now take two capsules without experiencing this side effect.
If taking this supplement late in the evening, it may make it difficult to fall asleep. Therefore, it is recommended to use it earlier in the day and leave enough time before you intend to fall asleep.
As the OptiMind supplement comes in a gelatin capsule, it may cause gastrointestinal discomfort or irritation in the esophagus for some users. To avoid this, it is best to consume the supplement with lots of water or you can break the capsule apart and pour the contents into a drink such as a smoothie.

Worked for me – felt more alert and energized but not over-stimulated. It helped me focus without getting distracted all the time and was more clear-headed with less “mental chatter”
Hey Trevor,
Thanks for your feedback! Appreciate you leaving your comments
Damn cool
Hey :) Thanks for leaving your feedback. Have you used Optimind? Would be great to hear your review.
Had a monstrous boost in focus and memory. Revised for a 10hr period (with some breaks) and strangely enough, i never got bored- i just couldn’t stop revising until everything was done. Also when you are revising and reading through things, the process of memorising what you’ve read is effortless. I did not experience any side effects, just felt a bit tired and had a little headache. The next morning i was great. :D I did a test the following week and got an A*, the memory of what i learnt during those 10hrs was stuck to me.
Hey,
Thanks for leaving your comments! Great to hear that this product had a positive effect on you. Would love to know if you have continued using it.
I got some question contact me on my email
Boa Noite.
Gostaria de saber se o optmind, é o mesmo que o optymemori?
Worst customer service ever. I bought one box of optimind and was sent two boxes and charged for it. I tried calling and texting the customer service line more then once and never received a call or text back. Their website hasn’t worked for months when you try to use your account. I’ve had similar problems in the past with ordering optimind. The last time I ordered before this, they charged me and never sent it out. On the ups tracking it said they never shipped it out and when I called the representative tried to say it got lost in the mail. I am very disappointment in this company and will never buy from them again. There are other products out there that are similar and this is just not worth my time.
Hi Amanda,
Thanks for leaving your review. I’ll pass on your comments to their team to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
