Piracetam 400 mg tablets can be found online from a small number of nootropic vendors and international pharmacies.
Piracetam is a brain-boosting compound that was developed in 1964 by a Belgian pharmaceutical company.
It is currently marketed under a wide variety of names and brands, such as Nootropil, Lucetam, Nooracetam, and more. Piracetam is reported to have positive effects on memory, learning, and cognitive processes.
But before you decide to buy Piracetam 400 mg pills, we advise you that this dosage is considered far too small to notice any benefits. Most nootropic users purchase bulk Piracetam powder and use dosages anywhere from 5x to 24x the 400 mg amount.
It should be noted that in the United States, Piracetam is an unregulated, unscheduled compound. While Piracetam has been sold for many years in various countries around the world as either an over the counter drug or a prescription drug, the FDA has not approved Piracetam as a drug to prevent or treat any conditions.
The FDA has now added Piracetam to the list of investigational new drugs (IND). Potentially this will prompt more research which will eventually lead to the classification of Piracetam.
For the time being, even though it is an unregulated substance, Piracetam is legal to buy and own for personal use. However, buying Piracetam from sources within the US can be difficult due to FDA laws surrounding the sales, distribution, and labeling of compounds like Piracetam. Many people will instead import from countries where the sale of Piracetam is legal.

Piracetam was the very first nootropic compound ever discovered. In fact, the word ‘Nootropic’ was actually coined as a novel way of describing the effects of Piracetam. This word is of Greek origin and means “turn the mind”.
The criteria for a nootropic states that a substance must improve cognitive function without affecting stimulation of the central nervous system and without causing any risk of toxicity or negative side effects.
Nowadays, we call these compounds by other names such as “cognitive enhancers” or even so-called “smart drugs”.
Used all over the globe now by millions of people, Piracetam is the parent compound that has given rise to a whole class of nootropics called the Racetams. Ever since it hit the market in the early to mid 1970’s people have been interested in discovering ways to help improve their memory, learning, and other cognitive abilities through the use of nootropics.
Piracetam, since it was the first one developed, is still the standard to which all other Nootropics are compared.
Piracetam & Cognition
One of the key reasons people take Piracetam 400 mg pills is to improve memory formation, retention, and recall. Numerous studies have shown that the compound is capable of improving both short-term working memory and spatial memory.
Piracetam is also believed to increase learning capacity, making this one of the most popular nootropics among students. This compound has also been extensively used by older individuals who may be experiencing “senior moments” and subtle signs of memory loss.
In this situation, it has been hypothesized that Piracetam may prevent further decline while also preserving memory faculties and synaptic plasticity. More research is needed in this area.
Piracetam reviews frequently include stories of being able to think faster and having more detailed memories as well as faster memory retrieval. Additionally, taking 400 mg Piracetam capsules is thought to contribute to longer a attention span and an increased ability to focus on one task without distraction.
There are even users who say that Piracetam has helped to improve their mental fluidity, making common tasks like reading and writing (school work, reports, etc…) seem to flow with less effort and concerted thought. It has also been used to overcome the mental strain and energy slump that often accompanies the latter half of a work day.

Piracetam & Neuroprotection
According to a classic definition of Nootropics, these compounds also offer protective effects for the brain and nervous system. This is certainly the case for Piracetam.
There have been a number of studies showing that Piracetam can inhibit the damage done to the brain from excessive alcohol consumption.
One of the ways in which alcohol damages neurons is by increasing deposits of something called lipofuscin. This is a lipid-based waste product that begins to accumulate in all of our cells as we age, recognizable on the skin as “age spots” or “liver spots.” Lipofuscin also accumulates within the body, including in the brain.
Piracetam 400 mg doses were observed to promote the elimination of lipofuscin deposits, helping to reverse possible damage that this waste product imposes on cellular function.
Piracetam has also been observed to support increased fluidity of cell membranes, leading to better supply of nutrients, as well as improved long-term brain cell signaling mechanisms.
Scientists have hypothesized that these neuroprotectant effects may extend to keeping the brain from prematurely aging. This is one reason why researchers are interested in studying Piracetam’s potential ability to treat cognitive decline due to aging, dementia, and even Alzheimer’s disease.
Piracetam Dosages – is 400 mg enough?
When Piracetam first became available, the 400 mg pills were one of the most widely available formulations, in addition to Piracetam 800 mg pills.
In present times, it is the general consensus that these dosages are far too low to be fully effective. Recent studies show that the “safe” range for Piracetam use is as high as 9600 mg.
Given the extremely low toxicity of this drug – it has toxicity scores lower than table salt and caffeine – you could conceivably take much larger amounts with no risk of serious side effects (though this strongly not recommended).
Piracetam, like many other nootropics, has an upside down U-shaped dose curve which means up until a certain point, the more you take the better your results may be. After this point though, most users will start to see a diminishing return on investment until finally taking too much can actually result in worse results.
In general, the majority of users will take 2,400 mg to 4,800 mg per day when they are starting out. If you were to achieve these dosages with Piracetam 400 mg tablets, you would need to take between 6 and 12 pills ever day in order to see positive results.
That can be both expensive and cumbersome, especially when most people take their Piracetam doses in several equally divided administrations throughout the day in order to ensure a consistent supply within their system.
If you have spent any time scouring the health supplement aisles of your local pharmacy, you have probably figured out that products packaged in smaller denominations cost more on average than products in larger denominations, on a standard dose size basis.
In other words, buying two 400 mg pills will typically cost more than buying one 800 mg pill. This is certainly true for Piracetam, which is why many people have switched recently to using higher dose pills.
But even better savings can be obtained if you buy Piracetam as a bulk powder. Some companies will sell you the powdered forms without any fillers or processing costs that they would require if they were manufacturing pills or capsules.
If you buy Piracetam powder, you may pay as little as $0.39 per day for a 4.8 gram dosage. The typical amount of powder sold can last as much as three months on an average dosage schedule. For this reason, it is a well-recognized fact that Piracetam 400 mg and 800 mg pills are not as good a value as powdered Piracetam.
If the reason why you prefer Piracetam pills to powder is the ease of taking and transporting pills, then you can consider making your own. Capping machines and empty capsules are available online for a reasonable price. You can then make your own capsules using Piracetam powder for a fraction of the cost of buying premade pills.

Stacking Piracetam
Depending on your purpose for taking this nootropic, you might want to consider using Piracetam as part of a stack, or in a combination with other nootropics or some supplements. For example, Piracetam goes very well with Choline. This nutrient is known to actually improve results compared to taking Piracetam by itself.
Many people will choose high quality choline supplements like Alpha GPC or Citicoline for added benefits to memory and mental faculties.
Using Choline with Piracetam may also prevent possible side effects that may occur if you are choline-deficient. While side effects in general are quite rare with Piracetam use, the most commonly reported side effect is headaches.
This effect is thought to be due to depleted levels of Acetylcholine. Choline is a precursor to Acetylcholine. Taking a choline source along with Piracetam may help prevent depletion of Acetylcholine and any resulting headaches.
You may also want to combine Piracetam with a moderate stimulant, such as caffeine. This will increase your energy levels as well as get blood pumping faster to your brain.
Piracetam is also frequently combined with another Racetam called Aniracetam which offers a slightly different set of complementary benefits.
Using An ‘Attack’ Dose
If you are taking Piracetam for the first time, you may be hearing different advice about how to start your dosages.
Some people will say that new users should start out with a lower dose in order to allow their system to become adjusted naturally to Piracetam. Then only begin increasing your dosage after you have become familiar with its effects, both positive and negative (if any).
Other users will say that you should start with an attack dose, taking double or even triple the standard dose (a feat which would be especially difficult if you were using 400 mg Piracetam tablets).
The idea is that you ‘shock’ your system by giving it a large initial amount of a new nootropic for a period of a few days to a week, then drop back down to a more ‘normal’ level. This theory states that a Piracetam attack dose can dramatically reduce the lag time before you start to see positive results.
We recommend a hybrid approach. Typically, it takes about 2 weeks for the effects of Piracetam to be noticeable. This delay is undesirable as it can cause many new users to question whether the nootropic is working at all.
However, there is good reason for starting at a smaller dose; this will allow you to determine your own sensitivity level and then adjust depending on any negative effects. It is important to allow your body to form some tolerance and let Piracetam build up in your system.
What you could do is start at a conservative dose (like 1,200 mg) for the first two days, then increase to a standard dose for two days after that. If you are still not seeing results, you may then want to consider an attack dose – but only for another two days before dropping back down to the normal level.
This strategy is much easier when using powdered nootropics which is another reason you may decide that Piracetam 400 mg pills are not right for you.
