How does the nootropic agent Pramiracetam work and what are the experiences reported in user reviews for its effects on mental abilities and attention span?
Pramiracetam is one of the most potent nootropics in the Racetam family. Users report that it promotes tunnel-vision focus and enhances mental clarity.
A number of nootropic users rate this as their favorite, primarily due to its strong and lasting effects on memory, concentration, mental drive and energy (among other benefits).
Pramiracetam has been shown to increase choline uptake in the brain and supports pathways related to long-term memory formation. In user reviews, many cite its benefits for increasing productivity or ability to study for long periods of time.
Users also note that it is more expensive than the other racetam nootropics like Piracetam, Aniracetam or Oxiracetam. It is sometimes integrated into a nootropic stack routine or used on a cycle to improve its cost-efficacy.
Not everyone who takes Pramiracetam experiences its benefits. Some people report side effects like strong headaches, nausea or irritable mood. Pramiracetam powder is also universally described as having a bitter, chemical-like taste which is why using it in capsule form is generally preferred.
In this article, we will summarize the effects and benefits described by users in Pramiracetam reviews as well as share information on how to take it and the risk of side effects. We have included 34 user reviews of Pramiracetam supplements below to give you an idea of how this nootropic drug makes people feel.

The first benefit of this particular supplement is that since it is fat soluble, you really only need to take it once per day.
Unlike other water soluble nootropics, this means that the effects should last longer, leading to less frequently dosing.
Pramiracetam is unique among nootropics in that it is well-known for helping to increase goal directed and purposeful behavior.
In other words, take this supplement if you need help getting yourself motivated or in doing the things that you know you should be doing.
Of course, there are also a number of cognitive benefits to this supplement as well. Many users report that they have improved memory and faster recall while taking this nootropic.

- Improves focus, productivity and motivation
- Boosts cognition and memory performance
- Heightens alertness and reasoning
Other benefits include being able to think more clearly and heightened levels of focus and concentration. This focus and concentration can be surprisingly strong and is one of the hallmarks and main attractions to Pramiracetam.
Additionally, many users report having improved fluid intelligence, meaning that tasks such as reading, writing, and even engaging in ordinarily mentally taxing conversations and discussions seem to come much more easily and almost without effort.
There are also several studies which suggest that this supplement may be a neuroprotective. In other words, it actually helps to protect your neurons and long term use may even improve your overall brain health.
In some cases, it could be an effective therapy or treatment against particular types of brain damage. Damage due to alcohol abuse is one of these possible uses.
An Excellent Study Aid:
Studying can be extremely hard work and students are certainly interested in anything that can help them with this task. Pramiracetam has been used by a number of students and the reports are very positive regarding its benefits. This includes being able to increase working and spatial memories.
In addition to improvements in day to day studying tasks, this supplement may also be helpful with test taking, due to improved memory and faster recall.
The enhanced mental fluidity also may make it easier to link ideas and concepts together. Essay writing will be improved and you will experience better recall of facts, figures, and dates.
Just understand that this is not a magic pill and you still need to actually study!

Screws up my sleep schedule if taken regularly though, like I’ll go to bed at 7pm, wake up at midnight then stay up till midnight the next day.” – Anonymous [1]
Funny thing is, before taking pramiracetam, I’d found the exercises super easy, so I don’t exactly understand what went wrong. But after that experience, I’ve never looked back. I am happy to say I found other substances far more effective, IME.” – Sherlockian_Holmes [1]
Note that such regime will cause some sort of “plateau” at some point (after about 1 month). I don’t know what it really is, but people say that it’s not very pleasant, and may require help from psychiatrist to get through for about 1 or 2 months, if you aren’t a strong-willed person.
I’ve tried to use it like that for 2 weeks, got a strong vasodilation for first 3 days, then it impaired my thinking, and after one week it started to impair my sleep. Made me feel cranked up (endogenous amphetamine-related activity potentiation by prami?), so I’ve ditched it after 10th day. 600mg or 100mg doses seem to have zero effect on me.
And don’t try to keep it in your mouth or under your tongue – it will damage (burn) the mucous membrane.” – pddqd9 [2]
I was taking prami with vyvanse, CDP-choline and NASEMAXA as a sort of emergency cram stack during a super busy part of one semester. I still have all A’s, so I suppose it worked. It certainly wasn’t hurting. Required a lot of choline supplementation, however: my brain was just gobbling it up for the first week! That eventually lessened to normal choline supplementation, though.” – Debonaire_Death [2]
Now for the bad/weird: 1. Pramiracetam tastes absolutely horrible; 2. It tears up my stomach if I don’t consume food with it.; 3. I have a greater propensity to employ words on the frontiers of my mastered vocabulary, which can occasionally lead me to either misuse a word or sound like a pretentious dick for using “big words” regardless of the context.; 4. I often find myself attempting to create new words on Pramiracetam. The most common manifestation of this is my tendency on Pram of converting words into a non-standard english adverb form in both text and speech.; 5. I feel incredibly robotic and logical, which can often be a bad thing in social situations. Overall this is 8.5/10 Nootropic.” – ThirdHuman [3]
1 hour in I feel super jittery. I got some restless leg syndrome and was uncomfortable. I went to the gym asap to change my physiological state if you will. Let me tell you I was on absolute fire.
My brain never has worked this well. I was super focused. …. I had that feeling of wanting to engage people and strike up conversation. By far my most talkative day at the gym ever in 5 years.
I was witty as f***. I felt so sharp. I made several people laugh when engaging them. It was like that feeling you get when you are in that state at a party where you can do no wrong and have complete trust in your faculties and you are the fucking man- the life of the party. There was hardly any background noise. Thoughts were clearer…. I was running on all cylinders yesterday for the first time in a long time.
This felt clean with no side effects. I slept better than ever too. Just awesome!” – Lurkin_Dirty [4]
While I find it ideal for cramming for an exam or knowing what to say in a social situation (not to mention curbing anxiety and increasing mental clarity at a decent dose), I also find that this boost in clarity and thought can be psychologically addictive. You will want and crave that feeling again, but the positive thing is that it’s not as toxic as taking, say, modafinil, and it’s much better for the body. I just feel that I don’t want to take it long-term because I don’t want to become dependent on that feeling of everything in my body being overclocked. ” – WhitePhantom77 [7]
The only downside is that for some people (me included) it seems to have a weird depersonalization effects at medium-high doses. A redditor coined it as the “Spock effect” in another prami post.
I personally call it the “Rain Man effect” :)” – baronjpetor [7]
… I tried Pramiracetam again today. About 0.5cc, slightly rounded, so I’m estimating about 700 grams (given I have a 5 gram vial and the ratio I took out also matches that). I took it with some soy lecithin to have choline with it right away. Took noopept immediately with it.
I must say… I’m not more focused for studying… but I feel a lot happier & relaxed. Like in an induced way, sort of similar to what DMAA does for mood in the first 30 minutes or so (and DMAA is amphetamine-like, though I’ve never tried a true amphetamine). While aniracetam was primarily just anxiolytic, this is anxiolytic and mood boosting. It’s definitely worth noting (for me at the very least) that it improves mood noticeably… but that’s not my goal.” – PaulWog [8]
I didn’t feel “zeroed in”. I felt more like it made me lazy. I felt like thinking was a chore that I didn’t really want to engage in. That’s kind of the opposite of what noots should do. I will try it again, perhaps in a different dose.” – benf101 [9]

Pramiracetam Versus The Others:
This supplement should definitely not be the first nootropic or Racetam that you take. It is simply too powerful and not intended for first-time or one-off users.
Also consider the fact that, despite there being tons of evidence for some really incredible benefits, it is impossible to predict ahead of time exactly how this nootropic will work for you (or affect you).
It is possible that you might be sensitive to Racetams, in which case there could be some negative side effects.
Taking Pramiracetam without already having experience with other Racetams is a bit like learning to drive in a Ferrari.
It is very powerful and you need to exercise control to get the most out of it. Sure, it might be ok to start with this super-strength supplement on your first dosing, but why take such a chance.
First, start off with something more tame like Piracetam to get accustomed to the effects of nootropics, and maybe then upgrade to something a bit more potent, like Oxiracetam or Aniracetam.
Only after you have experienced these, their effects, and know what to generally expect from nootropics should you consider moving on to Parmiracetam.
Pramiracetam Dose:
Since this is the most powerful Racetam, and fat soluble to boot, many users can see effects with as little as 150 mg. per day. It is always recommended that you start out with a lower dose and then only increase gradually, if at all. The generally accepted daily dosage range, however, is anywhere from about 300 to 1200 mg.
In terms of stacking Pramiracetam, this is not usually done since it is already quite potent. However, you should consider adding a good source of choline to alleviate any potential issues with headaches or decreases in choline production.
