Rhodiola Rosea is a natural nootropic and adaptogen which can reduce fatigue, boost concentration, improve your mood and alleviate stress.
It is known by a number of names according to the area in which it is found such as Golden root, rose root, Aaron’s rod, and king’s crown.
This is a plant that typically grows at high altitudes and in cold regions throughout the world including the Arctic, mountains of Central Asia, and even in eastern North America from Baffin Island (Canada) down to the mountains of North Carolina.
Rhodiola Rosea supplements are now widely marketed for their healing properties. User reviews say that this herb is effective for improving mood and eliminating stress and depression. The supplement has been used for centuries to help people cope with the cold climate in places like Siberia and Scandanavia.
It has also been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine and parts of this plant have also been consumed as food, particularly in salads. Scientists have identified up to 140 chemical compounds in this supplement including phenols, rosavin, organic acids, flavanoids, and alkaloids (these last two are derivatives of other main ingredients).
Rhodiola Rosea can be used in an herbal nootropic stack and is also considered to have merit as a natural alternative to Adderall.

- Adaptogenic herb for reducing stress
- Boosts energy, focus & mood
- May reduce sleep problems & irritability
Rhodiola Rosea Effects:
Related Topics
One of the primary methods of action for this supplement is through the stimulation of a specific class of enzymes known as AMPK.
When the body has more of this enzyme, or they become more active, we end up having more mitochondria within our cells. Mitochondria are popularly referred to as the power plants of our cells.
Higher levels lead to more fat burning and an increased uptake of glucose into the muscle cells. More glucose leads to more metabolic activity, better cell functioning and higher energy levels.
One of the main ingredients found within this supplement is called salidroside. This is primarily responsible for inducing muscle cells into absorbing more glucose. In this respect, it almost imitates the effect of insulin.
Not only that, but this active ingredient is also considered to be an effective insulin booster. Together, these work to increase the AMPK enzymes, creating a feedback loop of sorts.
Rhodiola Rosea also has several nootropic-specific mechanisms of action. It is known to increase serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain while also preventing their breakdown. The herbal extract is an MAO inhibitor, able to slow down the metabolization of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine.
Rhodiola Rosea is further noted for influencing the opioid peptide beta-endorphin which can lead to feelings of pleasure and well-being.
Rhodiola Rosea Benefits:
Rhodiola Rosea exerts an anti-fatigue effect that increases mental performance. This plant can boost concentration and focus among healthy subjects as well as those suffering from chronic fatigue or related issues. These results have been backed up by clinical studies which have shown a wide range of benefits.
Rhodiola Rosea is observed to help in treating mild to moderate depression symptoms, with no apparent side effects. Other studies have demonstrated that the extract form of this supplement has a positive effect on sensitive and fading skin as well as improving overall skin condition.
Animal studies have shown that there may be some additional mental benefits of Rhodiola Rosea. This includes stimulating the release of Norepinephrine, a powerful neurotransmitter which is involved in attention and alertness.
Norepinephrine is one of the catecholamines and is part of the adrenal system in the body. It is associated with feelings of intense energy, motivation and focus.
Higher levels of norepinephrine can also combat the effects of aging and prevent senile dementia.
Rhodiola Rosea is considered to be an adaptogen which is a name given to plants that are safe for human consumption and known to restore balance to the human body. It is thought to have a normalizing effect on the body with widespread physiological benefits.
Rhodiola minimizes the harmful effects of stress and fatigue along with restoring immune system function and cellular health. You will see herbal adaptogens used frequently in the treatment of anxiety and depression disorders.
Rhodiola in particular has a positive effect on mood by inhibiting enzymes that decrease the brain’s levels of neurotransmitters like Serotonin and Dopamine.
Rhodiola Rosea Dosage:
The typical daily dosage range for this supplement is between 100 and 600 mg. Since Rhodiola Rosea is considered to be a mild stimulant it should be used and approached with caution.
As with any new supplement, user are advised to begin with the lowest effective dose and only increase slowly and carefully once familiar with the actual effects.
You may want to start by trying this nootropic on its own and only add other supplements after a week of side effect free use.
While Rhodiola Rosea is considered to be a very safe and well-tolerated supplement there are some side effects associated with its use. These are generally mild and similar to what would be expected from any type of mild stimulant including anxiety, agitation, nausea, hyper-salivation, restlessness, and insomnia.
It should also be noted that most of these were reported in cases of taking very high doses above the recommended levels.
Rhodiola Rosea Review:
Rhodiola Rosea is an adaptogens that has gained a lot of popularity in the last few years. In addition to its health-promoting benefits, this supplement is also well regarded for nootropic purposes.
While it may not be as strong as some of the other focus enhancing nootropics available like Aniracetam or Pramiracetam, it is a good complement to a natural nootropic stack. Rhodiola Rosea is also an excellent mood enhancer and may help you to overcome feelings of stress, anxiety or depression.

Rhodiola makes one feels better
I wonder if you have shipments to Mexico country? For your attention, thank you very much !!
QUAL O DOSAGEM CERTA PARA UMA MULHER DE 26 ANOS COM 83.300KG
Great Product Rhodiola rosea. Helps me a lot since i discovered it few years ago. It is one of the best products on the market that really do what it says
rhodiola taken at 300mg boosted my mood tremendously and sense of well being but after a week it became too much and interfered with sleep and anxiety levels rose abit and feeling jittery.I have now dropped it to 100mg in the am.Its all about finding the right levels.
I am really scared to try but i will try.
