Sunifiram (DM-235) is one of the most exciting new nootropics belonging to the Ampakine family. This experimental drug has been found to exhibit anti-amnesiac effects at a significantly higher potency than other synthetic nootropic drugs.
A number of cognitive improvements have been observed when taking Sunifiram, including memory augmentation, focus and stimulant-like energy without stimulant side effects.
This pharmaceutical smart drug has only been available to buy within the last year, but it is already earning lots of favorable reviews among “hardcore” nootropic users.
Because of its relatively recent arrival on the scene of mainstream nootropics, there are still many questions about how to properly use this compound. In this article, we will look at the appropriate Sunifiram dosage as well as share some user insights on how to best take Sunifiram powder.

- Stimulates AMPA receptors in the brain
- Promotes focus & mental energy
- Enhances growth of synapses between neurons
Sunifiram Overview
Related Topics
Sunifiram (1-benzoyl-4-propanoylpiperazine) is a strong modulator of AMPA receptors for the neurotransmitter Glutamate.
It also stimulates the release of acetylcholine and is said to be at least 1,000 times more potent than Piracetam.
Initial research demonstrates that Sunifiram enhances Long Term Potentiation which is the process of forming new connections between neurons involved in memory storage. Sunifiram seems to be able to enhance the mechanism by which short-term memories are consolidated and stored as long-term memories.
At present, it is the most popular Ampakine for use by casual Nootropic enthusiasts.
However, it is currently not approved as a drug in the United States or elsewhere in the world. Individuals taking this investigational drug do so off-label and run the risk of experiencing adverse effects.
There is limited clinical research available into the effects and mechanisms of Sunifiram. Most of the information available comes from nootropic user reviews and anecdotal experience reports.
While this information is valuable for understanding how this nootropic agent affects people, it cannot be relied upon as a source for conclusive evidence of clinical efficacy.
Sunifiram Benefits
The primary benefits of Sunifiram reported in user reviews are in the areas of memory and concentration. By increasing glutamate activity, this drug has been observed to raise mental energy levels, alertness and support attention span.
Some reviews and Sunifiram experience logs describe being able to focus intently and achieving greater productivity when taking this cognitive enhancer. It seems to provide the energy rush and motivation of a stimulant, but it is not a stimulant in the scientific sense of the word.
This means that it may promote mental arousal and awakeness, without exerting a stimulatory effect on the Central Nervous System.
This compound also exhibits mood-enhancing effects with several reviewers reporting they feel a sense of calm and relaxation when taking it. Sunifiram is believed to improve learning, reasoning, new memory formation, retention, and recall and to counteract certain cognitive deficits.
Sunifiram Dose
Compared to Piracetam and the more popular Racetam nootropics, Sunifiram is significantly more potent and requires a much smaller dosage.
This smart drug is more potent than Noopept so you should not assume that they work at the same dose level just because both have been called “1,000 stronger than Piracetam”.
In general, the dosage of Sunifiram used in user reviews is between 4 mg to 8 mg taken a maximum of three times per day. It works best when dosed sublingually which means placing it under your tongue.
Some people will take as much as 10 mg at a time to produce greater stimulation similar to what you may experience when using Adderall. However, this quantity may increase the risk of side effects and it may cause you to build up a tolerance faster than normal.
Some people suggest cycling your Sunifiram dosage to avoid forming a tolerance to the effects of this drug. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are using this drug for the first time you should start with a half dosage so that you can first observe how this Ampakine affects you.
When taking a compound this strong, it is not recommended that you start with an attack dose or try a mega dose for increased effectiveness. In fact, taking too large of a dose may result in over-stimulation and lead to brain fog or the inability to think clearly while it is still in your system.
There have not been any studies to establish a toxicity limit for Sunifiram, but in theory taking too much could result in excessive activation of AMPA and NDMA receptors for glutamate. This could potentially lead to excitotoxicity from a Sunifiram overdose though so far such a case has not been reported.
However, prudence dictates caution so you should never exceed more than 10 mg per dosage.
Is Sunifiram Safe?
So far, Sunifiram is regarded as safe so long as it is used within the recommended dosage guidelines. There have not been any cases of dangerous side effects reported by initial users and no studies have raised reasons to be concerned at present.
However, it is still early in the history of this nootropic and you will end up assuming some risk when you try a new supplement such as this. The best way to alleviate these concerns is by reading Sunifiram reviews and experience logs from other individuals to see the side effects they encountered – if any – when taking Sunifiram powder.
Some of the most common side effects are: headaches, anxiety, jitters, restlessness, insomnia, brain fog, nausea, and increased sweating. Your experience may not be typical and for safety’s sake it would be best to speak to a doctor before using this nootropic.
You should definitely consult a medical professional if you are currently taking any drugs or medications that may interfere with Sunifiram.

Please note that side effects HAVE occured. Several people on http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/65350-sunifiram-experiences/
have reported apparent excitotoxicity, symptoms of this, among others, seem to be
-constant headaches
-loss of balance
-constant tinitus
In all of those cases excessive amounts of Sunifiram were stacked with other stimulants such as Modafinil or Caffeine.
Worst case scenario (so far) : You’ll live with headaches and tinitus for up to a year. So if you plan on taking Sunifiram make sure to dose correctly and avoid unverified stacks, especially ones containing Amphetamines or strong stimulants like Caffeine. Avoid alcohol.
Should any of these symptoms occur, stop using any nootropics immediatly. Should they persist weeks after, confess to your doctor and get help.
tl;dr / PS:
Do not overdose. Do not stack with stimulants. Start at 1 mg. Do not go higher than 3x5mg / day . Try to minimize your doses. Less is more definitely applies here. Keep in mind that it accumulates for days.
Also, to maximize the effect, avoid taking it more than 5 days a week.
