Unifiram is a positive allosteric modulator of your AMPA receptors (also known as ?-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptors).
As an Ampakine, Unifiram effects glutamate uptake in the brain causing better synaptic transmission between neurons.

Little is known about Unifiram side effects so far due to a lack of research, but initial studies have found it to be safe just like other nootropics.
More is known about Sunifiram side effects which again are very mild with headaches, increased perspiration and restlessness being among the most common.
Some people who have taken these compounds suggest that starting with a smaller dosage and building up your tolerance is a good way to avoid negative side effects.
