Yerba Mate is a plant that traditionally consumed in subtropical areas of South America like Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Paraguay.

its believed that Mate’s cancer concerns are from the PAHs caused by traditional smoke drying of the leaves. Some recommened using the milder, organic in smoked teas instead.
Agree with Lad. I use *dried* versions instead of *smoked*, drinking it in the morning and after supper.
