Yohimbe is a traditional medicine from tropical regions in West Africa. The bark of the evergreen yohimbe tree is used as a sexual enhancer, energy supplement and general tonic in countries that include Nigeria, Gabon, Congo and Cameroon.
In the west, yohimbine was once commonly prescribed for erectile dysfunction. It was also used in veterinary practices to reverse sedation in deer and canines.
Yohimbe Plus is one of several yohimbine supplements that are now available over the counter in the U.S. While you can purchase this supplement without a prescription, it is important to check with a doctor to make sure it is safe for you to use before buying Yohimbe Plus.

Advanced Yohimbe Plus Benefits

Irwin Naturals Yohimbe Plus has 73 reviews on Amazon, 54% of which are five-star reviews. Positive reviews noted that the supplement was effective for them for both sexual enhancement and energy levels.
Negative reviews note that this supplement can cause unwanted side effects, such as increased blood pressure, nausea, over-stimulation, agitation and dizziness.
How Does Yohimbe Plus Work?
Yohimbe Plus contains 6 mg of yohimbine alkaloids per capsule. Yohimbine works in the body as a stimulant, causing an increase in the release of norepinephrine and epinephrine.
It is an antagonist of alpha-2 adrenergic receptors. This means that it blocks these receptors from being activated by norepinephrine, which effectively disrupts a normal feedback loop that the body uses to prevent too much norepinephrine from being released into the blood.
By inhibiting this normal regulatory pathway, greater activation of the nervous system may be achieved. This can boost energy levels, increase circulation throughout the body and inhibit the storage of fat in certain parts of the body.
A number of physiological effects of oral yohimbine supplement usage have been documented in research studies. Research shows that it is effective for improving sexual performance and fat loss results.
In clinical studies on yohimbine, the primary active ingredient in Yohimbe Plus, 30% of subjects who took this compound for erectile dysfunction were able to achieve an erection.
Yohimbine’s effect on athletic performance and body composition were also examined in a study performed on 20 top level soccer players. The players each took 20 mg yohimbine, divided into two doses, for a 21-day period.
While the participants did not experience an improvement in performance or any gains or losses in muscle mass, they did see an appreciable loss in body fat composition.
